#### Frequently Asked Questions

1. I have entered the correct key. However, it says the key is invalid

Make sure you do not have trailing or leading spaces. If your website is behind a firewall, make sure your firewall does not block the request and the response.

Also if you have a single-site license and trying to use it on multiple sites, then the validation will fail. A single-site license key is only valid for a single site.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**NOTE:** You can use the key in your local development environments (localhosts). That is not a problem.
{% endhint %}

2\. Still could not validate the key?

# Updates

Welcome to the UpsellWP Plugin Update Guide. Keeping your UpsellWP plugin up to date ensures you have access to the latest features, performance improvements, and security enhancements.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Haven't yet purchased the UpsellWP PRO?

[**Get UpsellWP PRO**](https://upsellwp.com/pricing/)
{% endhint %}

**UpsellWP** is under active development. So we continue to release updates fixing the bugs, improving the features and introducing new features from time to time.&#x20;

Updating your UpsellWP plugin is easy. Please follow the instructions to update UpsellWP on your website:

#### 1. Always start by backing up your website

This is the most critical step. Most people will never need to restore their site from a backup, but on the off chance that an update causes issues with your site, you’ll want to be able to quickly restore it to its pre-update status. So don’t neglect to take a backup of your site before you begin the update process. This is true for all updates – not just UpsellWP updates. Any time you update any plugin or theme, or WordPress itself, run a backup first. The few seconds or minutes it takes is worth it in an emergency site situation.&#x20;

#### How To Create a Backup Of Your Site

Many plugins are available to help you easily create a backup of your site. A few we like include UpdraftPlus, Jetpack Backup, and BackupBuddy.

#### 2. Update on a staging site when possible

To prevent unexpected problems on your live site, it’s a good idea to test updates on a staging/testing server first. A staging site is essentially a copy of your live site, where you can test changes and updates without affecting your live site. If all goes well, then you can apply the update to the live site with a little more confidence.&#x20;

Check out some of the following guides to create a staging environment for WordPress websites:

1. <https://elementor.com/blog/wordpress-staging-site/>
2. <https://kinsta.com/blog/wordpress-staging-site/>

#### 3. Updating UpsellWP to the latest version <a href="#id-3.-updating-wployalty-to-the-latest-version" id="id-3.-updating-wployalty-to-the-latest-version"></a>

#### **Updating via the WordPress dashboard**

This is the most common method of updating the plugins.&#x20;

Please go to your WordPress dashboard -> plugins **-->** Installed plugins **-->** Search UpsellWP PRO - WooCommerce Upsell, Cross-sell, Order Bumps and more

You will see a notification like the screenshot below with an "update now" link. NOTE: This notification and the link will be visible when there is a new version released. When you are up-to-date, you won't see it.

**What if you are not seeing any update notifications?**

1. 1\. Make sure you have a valid license key and make sure it is validated.
2. 2\. You might already be using the latest version.

**Manually updating the plugin to the latest version**

In a few cases where you have not received the automatic update option, you can follow the instructions below to manually update the plugin.

* Login to your account at [UpsellWP](https://upsellwp.com/my-account/) and go to the My Account page.
* Download the UpsellWP plugin there.
* Then go to your WordPress dashboard -> Plugins **-->** Installed plugins **-->** Deactivate UpsellWP plugin and delete it. (Don't worry. Your campaigns and settings will be kept during this re-installation process)
* Go to your WordPress dashboard -> plugins --> Add new --> Upload plugin --> Choose the Zip file you just downloaded from the UpsellWP website.
* Click Install now and activate.

# Checkout Upsells

Welcome to the Checkout Upsell Campaign Guide. A checkout upsell campaign is a highly effective strategy to increase your store’s revenue by presenting targeted upsell offers right before a purchase.

#### Introduction: <a href="#h_53791c176e" id="h_53791c176e"></a>

Checkout Upsell is offered when your customers are at the checkout page. When you offer compelling discounts before they complete their payment (in checkout via checkout upsell campaign), customers can quickly add it with a one-click upsell.

For example, when a customer is purchasing a product, the Checkout Upsell campaign helps by showcasing suggested or related products on the checkout page. This simple approach encourages customers to enhance their shopping experience by adding more items to their cart, ultimately boosting the average order value.

This user guide explains how to create a Checkout Upsell campaign using [UpsellWP](https://wordpress.org/plugins/checkout-upsell-and-order-bumps/).

#### Example Scenarios: <a href="#h_6a672da083" id="h_6a672da083"></a>

1. **Percentage discount:** Provide a percentage discount on the Upsell offer product (e.g., 10% off the Upsell product).
2. **Fixed discount:** Apply a fixed discount for the Upsell products (e.g., $10 off the Upsell product).
3. **Free**: Display Upsell offer product for free on the checkout page.
4. **No Discount:** Display the Upsell product on the checkout page without a discount.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Please make sure you have already installed and activated the **UpsellWP** plugin.&#x20;

Please note that some of the features explained here are available only in the PRO version.&#x20;

# Cart Upsells

The Cart Upsell Campaign Guide will help you boost sales by offering relevant upsells in the cart. This guide walks you through setup, optimization, and best practices for maximizing conversions.

#### Introduction: <a href="#h_7a2ad9a844" id="h_7a2ad9a844"></a>

WooCommerce Cart Upsell is offered when your customers are on the cart page. When you offer compelling discounts before they complete their payment (before proceeding to checkout via Cart Upsell Campaign), customers can quickly add it with a one-click upsell.

For example, when a customer adds a product, the cart upsell campaign helps by showcasing offered products on the cart page. This simple approach encourages customers to enhance their shopping experience by adding more items to their cart, ultimately boosting the average order value.

This user guide explains how to create a Cart Upsell Campaign using [UpsellWP](https://wordpress.org/plugins/checkout-upsell-and-order-bumps/)

#### Example Scenarios:

# Post Purchase (Old)

The Post-Purchase Campaign Guide for UpsellWP helps you engage customers after checkout by offering relevant upsells.

{% hint style="danger" %}
This version of the post-purchase campaign will be deprecated after UpsellWP v2.1.2. So we highly recommend using a new post-purchase upsell instead.

Introduction:

Post Purchase Upsell is a marketing strategy that allows you to offer additional products or services to customers after they have made a purchase on your WooCommerce store. This technique is a great way to increase your revenue and customer satisfaction. By offering related or complementary products, you can help customers get the most out of their initial purchase and encourage them to buy more.

For example, an online clothing store can offer a complementary accessory to a customer who just bought a dress.

# Compatibility with WPML

This Guide for UpsellWP ensures seamless multilingual support for your upsell campaigns. The guide covers setup, configuration and best practices to translate and optimize offers for a global audience

**Introduction:**&#x20;

The [UpsellWP for Woocommerce plugin](https://upsellwp.com/pricing/) seamlessly integrates with WPML, ensuring full compatibility with multilingual websites. This guide aims to walk you through the process of creating offers in your Woocommerce store with a multilingual setup using the UpsellWP for Woocommerce plugin.&#x20;

**Why do we need different offers for different languages?**

* Instead of just translating dynamic strings like the offer content, we tailor unique offers for products in various languages
* This approach ensures that the discounts and promotions are better suited to each specific language and audience

**Example scenarios:**&#x20;

* Receive 10% off on Watch (in English) during the checkout process through the Checkout Upsell Campaign.
* Receive 20% discount on Montre (in French) during the checkout process through the Checkout Upsell Campaign.

As shown above, for websites that support multiple languages, we need to create separate offers for each language by including language as an additional condition. This allows us to offer in every language and apply distinct discounts for each language.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: To use some of the features shown in the examples, you must have the PRO version of the UpsellWP for Woocommerce plugin installed and activated.

Want even more advanced features? Upgrade to the PRO version by purchasing it here.

If you click the "Add condition" button, you'll discover a list of conditions you can use. Next, we'll examine each of them thoroughly.

These conditions are sorted into different categories like cart, purchase history, user, and more.

Now, let's take a closer look at each condition.

**Cart: these types of conditions are specifically designed for campaign types related to cart and checkout, such as Checkout Upsells, Cart Upsells, Double the Order, and Upsell Popups.**

**Products in the cart -** with this condition you can choose which products should be in or not in the cart or checkout to display offer products. For instance, you can set up a condition like "Buy an iPhone and receive AirPods as an upsell product."

**Categories of items in the cart -** using this condition, you can display an offered product when the cart contains items from a particular category. For instance, you can create a condition like "Buy a product from the 'Hoodies' category and receive a Cap as an upsell product."

**Tags of items in the cart -** with this condition, we can ensure that offer products are displayed only when the cart contains items with specific tags. For instance, you can set up a condition like "Get 10% off on a Bag when the customer has products with the 'Women' tag in the cart."

**Product SKUs in the cart -** with this condition, we can specify which product SKUs should be either in or not in the cart in order to display offer products. This allows you to control the offers based on the specific product SKUs present in the cart.

**Cart items count -** this condition counts the total number of line items or products in the cart. For instance, if a cart contains 2 different products with a total of 4 quantities, the cart item count would be 2, as it counts the distinct types of products in the cart.

**Cart items quantity -** this condition calculates the total quantity of items in the cart. For instance, if a cart contains 2 different products with a combined quantity of 4 items, the cart item quantity would be 4, as it adds up the total number of items in the cart.

**Applied Coupons in the cart -** with this condition, you can specify Woocommerce coupons (found in Woocommerce -> Marketing -> Coupons) to determine whether the coupon should be in the cart or not in the cart in order to display offer products. Also, using this condition we can choose whether the coupon should be/ not in the cart to display offer products.

**Cart subtotal -** condition refers to the total cost of everything in your cart before any coupons, taxes, or shipping fees are taken off. For example, Spend $100 to get special deals on certain products.

**Order -** these types of conditions are available for campaigns that depend on the order, such as Thank You Page Upsells and Coupons for the Next Purchase as soon as customers place an order.

**Products in Order -** choosing the item that a customer needs to buy in their current order to receive a special offer. For instance, if a customer buys an iPhone, they can get AirPods as an offer product when they reach the Thank You page as soon as placing the order.

**Categories of items in Order -** refers to a condition where upsell products are shown to customers immediately after they make a purchase that includes items from the specific category chosen in this condition.

**Tags of items in Order -** with the help of this condition, upsell products will be shown to customers right after they make an order containing products with the specific tag selected in this condition.

**Product SKUs in Order -** with the help of this condition, upsell products will be shown to customers immediately after they place an order with products corresponding to the selected SKUs in this condition.

**Order items count -** this condition calculates the number of individual products in an order. For instance, if a customer orders 2 different products with a total quantity of 4 items, the order item count will be 2, indicating there are 2 distinct products in the order.

**Order items quantity -** this condition calculates the total number of items in an order. For instance, if a customer places an order with 2 different products, each with a quantity of 2, the order item quantity will be 4, indicating there are 4 items in the order in total.

**Applied Coupons in Order -** this condition checks whether a WooCommerce coupon (found in WooCommerce -> Marketing -> Coupons) has been used in a given order. Depending on this check, it can display an offer product on the Thank You Page, for instance, or it can work oppositely as well.

**Order total -** this condition refers to the complete sum of all items within an order, including any applicable shipping fees and taxes. For example: Get a $10 off coupon code, if your order total is more than $100

**Number of orders made with specific products -** This condition represents the count of orders placed using a specific product within a selected period. For example, customers get a product (hoody with 80% off) by placing at least 3 orders (single or multiple quantities in different orders) with hoodies within a week.
