Frequently Bought Together

Introduction:

"Frequently bought together" is often used to describe a feature that suggests other products to customers. This feature shows items commonly purchased along with the product a customer is looking at in an online store.

For example, when you want to buy a new smartphone from an online store, you will see a section on the product page called "Frequently Bought Together." In that section, you will find a list of products that other customers bought along with the smartphone you are interested in. These recommended products usually include phone cases, screen protectors, headphones, or portable chargers. People often buy these items together with the smartphone.

This user guide explains creating a Frequently Bought Together Campaign using .

Example Scenarios:

  1. When a customer wants to buy t-shirts, display caps, sunglasses and related accessories on the product page.

  2. When a customer wants to buy an iPhone, display other items and services like a protective case and a one-year warranty subscription.

Please make sure you have already installed and activated the UpsellWP plugin. Please note that some of the features explained here are available only in the PRO version.

Let us get started,

Example 1: When a customer wants to buy t-shirts, display caps and sunglasses as related accessories on the product page.

In this scenario, when a customer wants to buy a t-shirt, show them other items that are often bought with t-shirts on the product page.

Creating an offer:

  • Go to WordPress dashboard -> UpsellWP -> Create New Campaign -> Choose “Frequently bought together”

Here is the screenshot of the filters and product suggestion method configuration that follows,

Details of configurations are:

Step 1: Choose "Specific Product -> In list -> T-shirt" in the filters.

Step 2: Select “Specific products” in the product suggestion method for the campaign and choose cap and sunglass as Upsell products.

Options available in product suggestion methods are:

  • Use Related Products: With this option, we make use of WooCommerce's Related Products feature. It figures out which products are related to the one you just bought by looking at things like the same tags or categories. So, for example, if you buy a bag, after you finish your order, you'll see other bag-related products on the Thank You Page.

  • Use Cross-Sell Products: When you choose this option, we'll show you products that are set as "Cross-Sell" in the "Linked Products" section on the product creation page.

  • Use Upsell Products: When you choose this option, we'll show you products that are set as "Upsell" in the "Linked Products" section on the product creation page.

  • Specific Products: With this option, we can display specific products chosen here.

Step 3: Now click “Save and close” the campaign

Now, that we have successfully created an offer, let's see how it works on the product page.

Now the created campaign has been successfully displayed on our product page. By clicking “Add all three to cart” you can avail of all three products in one click.

Example 2: When a customer wants to buy an iPhone, display other items and services like a protective case and a one-year warranty subscription.

  • Go to WordPress dashboard -> UpsellWP -> Create New Campaign -> choose “Frequently Bought Together”

Step 1: Choose “All Products” in the filters and select “Custom product” in the product suggestion method for the campaign. After updating these settings, you need to choose the frequently bought products manually when you create or edit the product.

Options available in product suggestion methods are:

  • Use Related Products: With this option, we make use of WooCommerce's Related Products feature. It figures out which products are related to the one you just bought by looking at things like the same tags or categories. So, for example, if you buy a bag, after you finish your order, you'll see other bag-related products on the Thank You Page.

  • Use Cross-Sell Products: When you choose this option, we'll show you products that are set as "Cross-Sell" in the "Linked Products" section on the product creation page.

  • Use Upsell Products: When you choose this option, we'll show you products that are set as "Upsell" in the "Linked Products" section on the product creation page.

Step 2: Now click “Save and close” the campaign

Step 3: Now there is an option to set Frequently bought together products in the back-end, you can add the frequently bought together products (back case, one-year warranty subscription)

Now, that we have successfully created an offer, let's see how it works on the product page.

Now the offered Frequently Bought Together products have been successfully added to your Product page.
